What cookies are
Cookies are small text files a website saves in your browser. Websites can also use similar technologies, such as local storage, which keep information on your device without sending it to a server with every request. This policy covers both, and we call them all "cookies" for short.
Our approach
We keep this to a minimum. Venom Racing does not set any advertising or tracking cookies, and we do not run analytics. Everything we store ourselves stays in your browser and is never sent to us. The only cookies a third party may set are Google's, and only after you have allowed Google Maps.
You can review or change your choices at any time with , also linked in the footer of every page.
Everything we store
| Name | Category | Purpose | Kept for |
|---|---|---|---|
vr_consentlocal storage | Necessary | Remembers your cookie choices, so we do not ask on every page. | Until you change or clear it |
vr_form_guard_v1local storage | Necessary | Stops the same enquiry being sent twice and limits automated submissions. Holds a short one-way code and the time of each enquiry - never the enquiry itself. | Each entry expires after 24 hours |
vr_logsession storage | Necessary | Technical diagnostics (for example, a page error) to help us fix problems. Contains no personal information. | Until you close the tab |
venom-*cache storage | Necessary | Keeps the site's own files and an offline page, so the site loads quickly and still responds without a connection. | Until the site is updated |
Google cookies (for example NID, AEC, SOCS)third-party cookies | Functional | Set by Google when an embedded Google Map loads. Used by Google to provide and secure the map. | Set by Google - see Google's policy |
The categories
Strictly necessary
Needed for the site to work and to keep it secure. They do not need your consent and cannot be switched off, although you can clear them in your browser.
Functional
Embedded Google Maps on our home and contact pages. Until you allow this category, each map shows a placeholder and nothing is requested from Google Maps.
Analytics
Not in use. If we ever add visitor statistics, they will stay switched off unless you allow them, and this policy will be updated first.
Marketing
Not in use. The same promise applies.
Other third parties
Our pages load fonts from Google Fonts, which does not set cookies but does receive your IP address. Links to Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, WhatsApp and our ECU tuning file portal take you to sites with their own cookie policies; nothing from them loads on our pages unless you click through.
Managing and withdrawing consent
- On this site - open Cookie Preferences in the footer, switch a category off and save. A map that was showing is removed straight away.
- In your browser - every browser lets you view and delete cookies and site data. Clearing site data for venomracing.co.za resets every item in the table above, and we will ask for your choices again.
- At Google - Google's own cookies can be managed at policies.google.com.
